Bento Fun #352 - Inarizushi Bears

Went to the Korean mart a while back and bought some aburage (prepared tofu-pockets) to make inarizushi. Darrius loves it very much but Glennie don't quite like it but here, mommy will make everyone try eating everything! :P

.These are pretty easy to make and extremely speedy. Just use the oval cutter to cut the cheeses, whole for the muffles and cut half for the ears.

Why I Bento?

When I was young, the only packed food that I had was bread with butter which I utterly loathed! In those days, Bento (Japanese style packed lunch box) was unheard of so my mom never put in any time or effort to do all these cutesy lunch boxes for me or my brother. You can imagine how we hated the ‘bread with butter’ sandwiches every day!

On many occasions we will dump these ‘bread with butter’ sandwiches into the drain outside our house when we reached home so our mom won’t suspect anything! Those were the crazy days! Later on we discovered Smuckers’s grape jelly with peanut butter jam… and these PBJ sandwiches are more ‘edible’ but still we got sick of it having to eat it too frequently! And they too ended up in the drain after a while! hahahaha

When I was slightly older and was in the afternoon session (most schools in Malaysia has 2 sessions), I beg my mom to pack rice for me to bring to school. So, on some days I get economy rice style packed lunch for school. Though it was the same thing I had for brunch at home, they are still way better than food bought from the school’s canteen and of course the unattractive ‘bread with butter’ sandwiches!!! :)

Now that I’m a mama, I vowed to do better!

I hope I can bring some cheers to my boy when he is in school… knowing what he got in school is far from anything interesting! :) He is only 4+ and have to wake up so early to attend school so I kind of pity him sometimes…

Though he is not very fussy with his food at the moment, I do hope by packing bentos, he will get used to eating a varieties of food and thus made it easier for us to buy food for him when we travel.

And since I am addicted to all the cutesy things (especially all the bento gadgets) this is another way for me to de-stress when I shop for them!

I hope you’ll enjoy some of my creations here (www.bentofun.info) and maybe you could brighten up someone’s day by packing them a cute bento! :D

Enjoy and Happy Bento-ing!!!!
